Using Back Office Settings Pages
Overview
Most Back Office settings pages share one layout that lets you search for a setting, jump to a section, and save your changes from a floating bar.
Whether you are editing printer behaviors, end-of-day rules, tipping, or checkout options, these pages look and behave the same way:
- A page header with the page title
- A sticky toolbar that stays visible as you scroll, with a search box to find any setting by name, and shortcut links that jump to each section
- Collapsible section cards you can expand and collapse
- A floating save bar that confirms when settings are saved, with a toast notification either way
How to Use
- Open the Settings menu in Back Office and click any settings page (for example, Servers, Tables and Staff, Checkout and Closing, Tipping and Grats, Scales, General System Settings, etc.).
- Use the Search box in the sticky toolbar to find a setting by name. Non-matching settings are temporarily hidden so you can focus on what you are changing.
- Click any section shortcut link in the toolbar to jump straight to that section.
- Click a section header to expand or collapse it. All sections are expanded by default.
- Adjust the setting values you need.
- Click Save Settings in the floating bar at the bottom of the page. A toast in the corner will confirm success, or tell you if something was not saved.
Limitations
- A small number of specialty pages (the receipt templates editor, the fee rules editor, kiosk, Online Ordering 2.0, printer groups, pull tabs, QR/SMS/Email pay, SMS-to-kitchen, coursing, booked items, tab zones, and payment methods) have custom layouts because they contain more than a simple list of settings (for example, grids of rows or template editors). Those pages use the same page frame but may not have the search box or collapsible sections.
- The search box searches setting labels only, not help text.
- You must have permission to access Back Office and the specific settings page.
FAQ
Q: Why is the Save Settings button in a floating bar at the bottom? A: The floating save bar stays visible as you scroll, so you do not have to scroll all the way back up or down after changing a setting.
Q: My settings did not save. What happened? A: The toast in the corner of the screen will say Save Error with details. The most common reason is that a numeric field (like a percentage or an amount) has a non-numeric value. Adjust that field and click Save Settings again.
