No Sale Slip

Updated

Overview

When a cashier opens the cash drawer with No Sale (no transaction is taking place), OrderCounter can print a small slip that records the moment the drawer was opened.

The slip includes a timestamp, the cashier who performed the No Sale, the terminal it happened on, and — when a manager override was required — the manager who authorized it.

This gives the store a paper record of every No Sale, which is useful for cash accountability and for reviewing who opened the drawer and when.

The slip is off by default and is turned on per store from Back Office.

How to Use

  1. In Back Office, open Settings > Printers.
  2. Under Staff Slips, Reports and Labels (General Printer Settings in the classic Back Office), find the Print No Sale Slip option (it sits just under Print Clock Slip).
  3. Set it to On and save.
  4. The change reaches each register the next time settings sync to that terminal.

From then on, every time a cashier presses No Sale on the register, a slip prints to that station's slip printer right after the drawer opens.

To stop the slip from printing, set Print No Sale Slip back to Off and save.

Limitations

  • The slip prints to the same station/slip printer the register already uses for Pay In / Pay Out slips. A station with no slip printer configured will not produce a slip.
  • The Authorized By line appears only when a manager override was actually performed for the No Sale. If no override was required, only the cashier is shown.
  • The setting is per store. It applies to every register at that store once settings have synced; it cannot be set for one register only.
  • Turning the option on takes effect after the next settings sync to each terminal, not instantly.

FAQ

Does this print on every drawer opening? No. It prints only for the No Sale action. Normal sales, refunds, and Pay In / Pay Out have their own receipts and are not affected.

Will my registers start printing slips automatically? No. The option is off by default. A slip prints only after someone turns Print No Sale Slip on for the store.

What is on the slip? The store name and address, a "No Sale" heading, the cashier's name, the terminal number, and the date and time. If a manager authorized the No Sale, their name is shown as well.

Where does the slip print? To the station's slip printer — the same destination used for Pay In / Pay Out slips.
