Driver Assign-Out Printing
Overview
When a driver is assigned to take delivery orders out of the store, OCPOS can automatically print paperwork for the driver so they do not have to reprint anything by hand. There are two separate pieces of paperwork that can be printed:
- Full itemized receipt - The same receipt that prints when you select a delivery order in the delivery panel and tap the Print button. It shows the items ordered, prices, subtotal, tax, totals, the customer's name, phone, and delivery address, and the settle number.
- Credit card slips - The customer copy and merchant copy credit card slips that show the card brand, last 4 digits, authorization, totals, tip, and signature line (the same slips that print at checkout).
Each type of paperwork is controlled by its own setting, so you can turn them on or off independently.
How to Use
Turning printing on or off
- In Backoffice, go to Settings -> Printers.
- Find the two settings below in the printer settings list:
- Print Receipt on Assign Driver - Controls the full itemized receipt.
- Print Credit Card Slips on Assign Driver - Controls the credit card customer and merchant slips.
- Set each to Yes or No depending on which paperwork you want printed when a driver is assigned out.
- Save. The change takes effect the next time a driver is assigned.
Examples
- Both set to Yes: Driver gets the full itemized receipt AND the credit card slips every time they are assigned.
- Only "Print Receipt on Assign Driver" set to Yes: Driver gets only the full itemized receipt. No credit card slips are printed at assign time.
- Only "Print Credit Card Slips on Assign Driver" set to Yes: Driver gets only the credit card slips. No itemized receipt is printed at assign time.
- Both set to No: Nothing prints automatically when a driver is assigned. Staff can still use the Print button on the delivery panel to print the itemized receipt manually.
Related workflow
If you only need the itemized receipt occasionally, you can always select the delivery order in the delivery panel and tap the Print button to reprint it on demand. That button prints the same receipt that Print Receipt on Assign Driver produces.
Limitations
- Print Receipt on Assign Driver defaults to Yes - the itemized receipt prints automatically when a driver is assigned unless you set it to No.
- Print Credit Card Slips on Assign Driver defaults to No - credit card slips do not print on driver assign unless you turn this on. Turn it on if your store wants the customer and merchant credit slips to print at assign time.
- The itemized receipt is only printed if the order has already been checked out and has a receipt stored. For unpaid orders at assign time, a fresh kitchen-style ticket is printed instead (the same as the Print button on the delivery panel).
- Credit card slips only print when the order has a credit card payment on file. Cash-only orders will not produce credit slips regardless of the setting.
- These settings only control the Assign Driver action. They do not affect printing at checkout, which is controlled by Print Slips on Delivery Orders.
FAQ
Q: How do I make the credit card slips print when a driver is assigned? A: Set Print Credit Card Slips on Assign Driver to Yes in Backoffice printer settings. It defaults to No, so the slips have to be turned on explicitly.
Q: How do I stop the itemized receipt from printing when a driver is assigned? A: Set Print Receipt on Assign Driver to No in Backoffice printer settings.
Q: We want both the itemized receipt and the credit card slips to print on assign. How? A: Set both settings to Yes in Backoffice printer settings.
Q: Will this also change what prints at checkout? A: No. Checkout printing is controlled by the separate Print Slips on Delivery Orders setting. These settings only affect the Assign Driver action.
Q: Does this change the receipt that prints when I press the Print button on a delivery order? A: No. The Print button on the delivery panel prints the same itemized receipt. These settings are only about what prints automatically when a driver is assigned out.
